What is the Honeymoon stage?
What is the Honeymoon stage? People often times refer to the beginning of a relationship as the honeymoon stage, the stage of a relationship when everything is happy, flowers are blooming, and you can't get enough of each other. Sometimes the next stage after the honeymoon stage turns into the couple not being able stand being around each other. Every day is grief from that point on and your not sure if you'll ever get back to the honeymoon stage.

What is it about the excitement of first meeting someone that makes us feel so happy with them? Is it because you don't know all of their dirty secrets yet which makes them seem like the Virgin Mary? Or is it the excitement of a new face, a new personality creating a breath of fresh air? Well I think it's a combination of all of this. But where does the downfall occur that takes the relationship from the honeymoon stage to the next stage full of arguments and space issues. Many people have been through this before and some couples seem to always maintain that honeymoon stage while others hit the gravel quickly. What is it that causes this to happen?

Ha, you really want to know. First of all there's a difference between the honeymoon stage and infatuation. When two people first meet they may be extremely infatuated with that person and are blinded by the truth. After that infatuation rubs off, the blinders begin to fall as well. And so now people are faced with the raw reality of their "breath of fresh air." The honeymoon stage is typically getting to know one another, doing things that makes that person smile, making them happy, keeping yourself in check and making sure you don't make any drastic mistakes. Problems arise when people think that it isn't necessary to carry on these behaviors once their mate bites their bate. As I said in an analogy before, if you start your company with a 100 grand, what makes you think that if will thrive with only 25 grand? Isn’t a business suppose to acquire more business opportunities thus requiring more money to keep it going while it spits out more revenue? Or do you prefer a company that you invest your time into and get nothing back in return? I said this best in a forum, “Who would invest in a company that never prospered?” That's how relationships work. It's borderline a job and requires more work than people think. But what happens is the wrong people fall in love. People who don't deserve that emotion get it and don't know what to do with it. Think it's a game and doesn't require any effort or initiative. And that, my friend, is when shit starts to hit the fan. People think that their relationship will flourish with less than half the effort they initially put into it! Those people who you are referring to who seem to live a relationship that is full of honeymoon nights are those that actually love their mate, desire for them to be happy and do everything in their power to compromise and sacrifice for their partner. But if other focuses are in the way and that person doesn’t mean that much to you, then yes you are correct, after the honeymoon/infatuation state, it will be full of disappointing arguments.

The Honeymoon stage is the time when two people are still lying to each other. I am not trying to sound bitter, but it's the truth. Men, y'all pump up your chest and make sure to do sit-ups and push-ups every night to look your best. Women, make sure the house is always clean, and start cookin' gourmet meals instead of the top rammen they normally eat. After you get comfortable, the push-ups stop and all that cookin' adds to her backside. Things start to look different.
