On Second thought
Last week I posted a blog talking about how I thought my Chicago Cubs were choking away the division to the Brewers. I was wrong. Not only did they rebound and beat the Cardinals 2 of 3 this past week, but because the Brewers have played so poorly over the same stretch, the lead has actually grown to 6 games. The Cubs Magic number to clinch their second consecutive NL Central Division Title is 10 games. (Magic number in this case is the combination of Cubs wins and Brewers losses equalling 10). Unfortunately the Cubs haven't played in a couple of days due to Hurricane Ike in Houston. I hope everyone over there is ok.
The rest of the season should be fun to watch.

My Cubbies Choking again?
Tell me this isn't happening. I been a life long Cubs fan and have experienced heartbreak after heartbreak. I even count the heartbreaks that occurred before I was old enough to know what was happening. I include 1969 which happened oh 12 years before I was born, 1984 when I was 3 years old, 1989 which we were expected to lose to SF, 1998 when the braves beat us down in 3 easy games, and the most painful, 2003 with the whole Bartman thing. You can also throw in there 2004 when we let the wildcard lead go with 2 weeks left in the season and also last year's crappy playoff appearance. I'm used to getting let down by this team, but this year is supposed to be different. The whole season the Cubs have been in first place, beating teams down with regularity and doing it pretty convincingly. All of a sudden we hit September, and the Cubs are on the longest losing streak of the year, 6 games... They still hold a 4 game lead over the Brewers but it is starting to look bleak. I have seen this before. Its weird deja vu. I'm hoping I am just a Cubs fan being pessimistic, but I can't help wondering if this is the point in time where they choke it all away and finish in 2nd place 5 games behind the Brewers. I have saw the Red Sox end an 86 year drought and even win it again 3 years later, the White Sox end an 88 year drought, and watched the Cardinals win yet another title... Will the Cubs finally stop braking our hearts and end this 100 year drought? Only time will tell, but right now it doesn't look good...
